I am looking forward to meeting you at one of my workshops, will be great fun !
A little about me.....I am an established textile designer ,I learned my textile craft at Farnham, art school, which having the ethos of William Morris and the art and craft movement enabled me to both become a printed textile designer and to learn the craft skills of textile techniques .I love to hold workshops, teaching for the joy of learning and creating, in a fun, friendly, sociable, environment. In my design practice I produce bespoke craft textiles and commercial textile designs, flower and still life paintings. My customers include: Paul Smith, Liberties, John Lewis, The V&A has my work in their permanent collection.
Great workshop. Fun, instructive and productive. Highly recommended!
I had a fantastic time. Susannah was very warm and welcoming. It was great fun playing with the many different vintage printing blocks, experimenting with the paints to create variations on a print. Susannah had lots of different ideas to try and I left with a gorgeous printed tote bag.
Great fun with lovely people. Susannah was very welcoming and a lovely host. A perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon
Susannah was a perfect host making sure everyone felt included and the atmosphere was very conducive to good creativity. Everyone was encouraged to explore their own creative style with knowledgeable technical advice given if needed. Clear instructions and well organised re materials, directions to event/communication and refreshments. Event ran over time because everyone was enjoying so much!
Lovely, relaxed class. You don't need to be an experienced artist to take this course. Susannah explains everything clearly and we all came away with some lovely materials we had up cycled and a bag. Would thoroughly recommend for anyone who enjoys crafts and fancies a bit of me time. Katie
Had a great day. Lovely group of people attended the course.
A wonderful day printing and getting back in touch with my creative side, encouraged and inspired by lovely Susannah. We were provided with exceptional vintage printing tools and wonderful freedom to get stuck in and creative.
I have always loved doing crafts activities but had never done fabric block printing before so I decided to attend one of Susannah's workshops. She holds them in her house and you were indeed immediately made to feel totally at home. Susannah has a wonderful way with people and made us all feel very happy and relaxed with each other, even though we had never met before. Her walls are decorated with some of her own beautiful paintings ( she told us she is a painter as well as a textile designer) which also added to the artistic inspiration! She had a professional printing table and wonderful dyes so we got very professional results. Susannah was a very good teacher; thorough, patient and gave everyone equal individual attention. I ended up printing two bags (which have become wonderful, original presents for friends!) and some material to make a cushion cover from, all on recycled fabrics. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop on all levels: the teaching, the social side and the results and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys making their own things, be it for themselves or for a gift for others.
I recently attended Susannah's workshop to reacquaint myself with block printing having done some a very very long time ago as part of my Textile Degree. The event took place in Susannah's own home and we were a small group. Susannah instantly made everyone feel very comfortable and welcome and showed us how to mix colours or use existing colours she had already made up. Everyone just got straight into it and produced some lovely original textiles which we were able to take home and use as we wanted. I would recommend this for an afternoon in a relaxing and fun environment for anyone interested in learning a new skill in a very old technique. Thanks for a great afternoon Susannah, most enjoyable. Not only did I reawaken my love for textile printing but I made a new friend in Susannah also as it turned out we had, by a huge coincidence, even been to the same art college and shared mutual friends though we had never met each other before. Thanks again Susannah.
