Using natural materials and traditional techniques, feltmaking is a creative, therapeutic and uplifting process which has enjoyed a revival in recent years as so many of us rediscover the importance and pleasure of taking the time to make things by hand. Work is produced quickly and freely without boundaries, so it is open to anyone, even those who feel they have little creative skill or artistic ability. Everyone goes home with some lovely handmade items, and with new skills.
A full day’s feltmaking will enable you to learn the basic technique in the morning, making a flat piece of felt using sheeps’ fleece, olive oil soap & water, experimenting with colour and texture using lots of colourful fibres and threads, then make a 3D item in the afternoon using a resist technique. You can make a decorative bowl, a hotwater bottle cover, a beret, a tablet-case, a tea-cosy or a clutch bag.
Full day in my studio includes all materials, light lunch & refreshments
